CO LAB Dry Shampoo Review

I always thought that dry shampoo was something that I would never use. However, after I coloured my hair and realised that washing my hair too often is not good. I ventured out to buy some dry shampoo for those days when feeling a bit too lazy.

Reading multiple reviews, of multiple dry shampoos. One particular brand caught my eye, so I decided to try it out, CO LAB. The main reason was that the reviews were defiantly very good and it was a product that a YouTuber, Ruth Crilly, came out with. Being someone who likes to watch YouTube videos, I also that it would be a great way to support Ruth.

I felt it in love the minute I tried it out. The best thing about is that it does not leave a white residue like other dry shampoos.

It also has a fresh fragrance which makes your hair feel and look as if you have just washed it. Honestly, after I started using CO LAB, I have really started loving my second-day hair, it is much easier to style and somehow looks, tamer, haha!

If you are looking for a dry shampoo that also adds volume to your hair, I would not really recommend this particular dry shampoo. There are multiple other brands of dry shampoo in the market that help to pump a bit of volume into your hair and make it feel fresh at the same time!

Healthy Banana Walnut Bread

Hey guys! Though I would share with you all one of my favourite banana bread/cake recipe which I literally made so many times that I basically know the recipe all too well! Even after making it so many times I still cannot decide whether it is a bread or a cake since it is as healthy as a bread is meant to be but taste sooooo good like a cake! Haha

It is a great breakfast idea for those mornings if you are in a rush. I would mostly make this on the weekend as I sadly have time on weekday mornings to even whip up a quick breakfast, cause who would want those extra minutes in that warm cosy bed.

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 medium banana
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup of butter
  • 1 3/4 cup of whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of banking powered
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • dash of milk (if mixture is too thick)
  • 1/2 cup of walnuts

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 170℃
  2. Mash the bananas in a bowl (doesn’t have to be perfectly mashed, you can leave a few chunks if you like)
  3. Add the eggs, butter, honey and vanilla extract and mix them together
  4. Then slowly add in the flour, baking powder and cinnamon
  5. If the mixture gets too thick, then just add a bit of milk to make it slightly smoother in consistency
  6. Line a baking tray with baking paper and pour the batter in. Sprinkle a bit of cinnamon on the top and swirl it gently using a stick and top it off lastly with a few crushed walnuts.
  7. Then just pop it in the oven for about 1h (adjust according to your oven) for 170℃
  8. Once done, let it cool on a wired tray before serving

Cinnamon is totally optional in this recipe, as it just adds a bit of kick to it especially to make it a great breakfast. If you plan to make it without cinnamon, it can even be a great dessert treat if served with chocolate syrup and vanilla ice cream.

Out of honey? Swap it out with sugar if u really have to. Out of whole wheat flour? Swap it out with regular flour. Out of olive oil?  Swap it for butter. (Sadly this would make the bread/cake slightly unhealthier but it still tastes as great!)

 Hope you enjoy baking! 🍰

Retail Therapy

February was pretty intense… It was the last few weeks before school ended. Also known as “Hell week”, with millions of assignment, late night studying and all that kind of jazz.

The minute I was done with all my school work, I was desperate to do “a bit”  of retail therapy (wasn’t exactly a bit hehe). I haven’t been shopping for way too long, so I felt that it was okay to let loose a bit and have a good time. It felt good for that moment, but at the end of the month, looking at my bank account… haishh. Not the best feeling hahah

So I thought I would share with y’all some of my favourite items!

img_0445photo_2017-02-23_15-41-41

I love this outfit combo. A waist-tie top with black knee ripped skinny ankle jeans. It was literally loved at first sight with this top, as it cinched at the waist with a  “shoe lace” kind of design, allowing you show off all those beautiful curves. These ripped jeans are the comfiest jean I have ever owned! The slit fits perfectly on my body. As I find most ripped knee jeans never sit on my knees because of my height. (Both the jean ($45.90) and top ($35.90) are from Zara)

This really cute crop top and leather skirt combo are a great balance between cute and sexy at the same time! The red and black crop top adds a bit of a retro feel to the outfit. The cute little ruffles at the hem of the top adding a bit of a girl feel you the top. The leather skit adds an edge to any outfit with the check detailing in the middle and a metallic zipper at the side. (Both the top ($14.90) and skirt ($59.90) are from Zara)

These two are the comfiest out of all my purchase I would say. The oversized khaki sweater is not the thick or thing for Singapore weather and I feel would be easy to chuck on any day as I feel it would definitely become one of my staples. The ripped mom jeans are defiantly one of my most fave purchase! As I have been looking for a ripped mom jeans for a very long time. Mainly cause I am very picky with my jeans, they have to be perfect! The studs on the hem of the pockets add an edge to the chill look of the jeans.

These are a few of the shoes and bags that I purchased online. The black platform sandals with cute flower cut outs on the straps are one of the comfiest pairs of sandals that I have ever owned! The whites shoes are a MUST, and I always buy a cheap white shoe so I don’t get so heart broken if they get dirty. The chunky black leather bag also is a MUST as I feel that it would go basically with any of my outfits. The maroon sling bag with tassels is a heart sized to chuck your lipstick, wallet and phone for any night out.

Which was your most favourite item?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It’s 2017! 2016 just disappeared in the blink of an eye. I personally feel that 2016 was not exactly the best year, many negative things have happened, in my life as well as around me. However, I really thankful for the experiences that I have gone through in 2016.

I really hope that 2017 would be more positive as compared to 2016. So here are some of my New Year Resolutions for this year…

  • Do what I love to do, and not let other push me to do things that I don’t wanna do.
  • Take better care of myself, in terms of my physical and mental health
  • Don’t put too much unnecessary stress on myself
  • Be more positive / Have a positive outlook on life.

Many people are setting new year resolutions and I really encourage you guys to do so if you haven’t! And I know many people struggle with actually sticking to them. But what I have found that actually breaking up you New Year goals into quarterly goals it is actually easier to stick to them. Example, you break you one big new year resolution into four parts. So by the first quarter, you tell yourself “I wanna achieve…” then the next quarter you push yourself even more. This really works for me as it takes away the stress of accomplishing something so big and daunting which at times looking at it in a whole feels impossible at times!

SO I really encourage everyone out the to make the most of this year and do not let what other people say affect you! On that note HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Here are some pics from my recent getaway trip to Batam, Indonesia. I was in desperate need of a getaway trip after the first semester of poly which was literally driving me insane to the point that I was looking flight ticket prices during my exam study period, which is not the best thing to do haha.

So my mum surprised us with the beautiful weekend getaway trip with my family. We stayed at the Montigo Resorts in Nongas, Batam, Indonesia. We went there for 3 Days and 2 Nights and stayed in an enormous villa which had 4 levels including the terrace, which had a breathtaking view of the sea.

On the first day, we went to town to do a bit of shopping and I decided to get a few local snacks that I have never seen before to try some out during out stay.

We opted for their breakfast buffet. Mainly cause breakfast is literally my favourite meal of the day and who doesn’t love a good breakfast to start the day off!

On the last night in Batam, we headed to the beach club house for dinner. The resort was not particularly known for its great food options but I feel that the food at the club house was actually pretty good.
